Alberto Naranjo - Imagen Latina

The first international release of this legendary 1992 album. A pioneer attempt in the fusion of musical personalities and genres, impeccably produced and arranged by an icon of Venezuelan Latin-jazz.
Alberto Naranjo (Caracas, 1941) established his fame as a composer, arranger, drummer and percussionist, radio DJ, music teacher, and writer. During his long career he has worked with legends like Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Alfredo Sadel, Tito Rodríguez, Arturo Sandoval, and international stars like Charles Aznavour, Julio Iglesias, and Engelbert Humperdinck.
In 1992, Naranjo produced Imagen Latina with his orchestra El Trabuco Venezolano—"The Venezuelan All-Star Band." The later prominence of El Trabuco members like Gerardo Rosales, Felipe Rengifo, César Pérez, Carlos Espósito, Orlando Poleo and Irvis Méndez on the world music stage demonstrates the wealth of talents the band contained.
Soloists with already established reputations participated in this project; national idols like Simón Díaz and Cecilia Todd, who are associated with traditional music and national folklore; Trina Medina, Canelita, and Wladimir Lozano, who are famous salseros; Maria Rívas, a pop star; and Aldemaro Romero, another icon of Venezuelan music. All those exquisite singers and soloists sound like just one more instrument in the El Trabuco ensemble.
This record was never released outside of Venezuela, and after years of relative oblivion, it is a great honor for Merusa Records to introduce a CD that might be dubbed "The Best of the Venezuelan All-Stars"; a high point in the recorded history of Venezuelan and Latin music!
